Henry Van Straubenzee Memorial Fund

Tusk is delighted to be working with The Henry Van Straubenze Memorial Fund (HVSMF), a member of the Princes Charities Forum, which works to build and upgrade schools across Uganda. Both Princes are patrons of the charity, which was established in memory of their friend Henry Van Straubenze who tragically died in an accident soon after leaving school. He was about to go to Uganda to work in a school.

Tusk supports a range of conservation and environmental education programmes in Uganda and both charities immediately saw mutual opportunities to cooperate. It is hoped that Tusk’s hugely successful PACE environmental education programme, which has been distributed to schools across the country and is now being adopted by one of Uganda’s leading Teacher Training Colleges at Ggaba, could provide an added dimension to the schools being supported by HVSMF.

Tusk was very happy earlier this year to share a number of its golden bond places in the London Marathon with HVSMF. While in June the charities came together as joint beneficiaries of a ‘White Collar Boxing’ Night at York Hall in the East End of London. The event, which was attended by some 200 guests, featured eight amateur boxing bouts and an auction in aid of the charities.

The collaboration has proved highly successful and is a further testament to the benefits that Tusk has gained as a result of being a member of the Prince’s Charities Forum.
