Sir Christopher Lever Bt.

Christopher Lever has been involved with Tusk since its formation in 1990, after 14 years as Chairman he retired in 2005, when he was appointed Honorary Life President.

After leaving university in 1954 he trained in the City as an accountant and stockbroker, before joining his family textile business.

He has been involved in nature conservation for many years, and has held voluntary office with the Born Free Foundation, African Fund for Endangered Wildlife, UK Elephant Group, World Society for the Protection of Animals, Earthwatch, International Trust for Nature Conservation, British Trust for Ornithology and the Conservation, British Trust for Ornithology and the Conservation Foundation among other organisations. He is currently a member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (the World Conservation Union) Species Survival Commission and the UK Committee; he is also on the editorial board of the Journal of Applied Herpetology. After serving for six years on the Council of Ambassadors of WWF-UK he is now a Fellow. He is also a Fellow of the Linnean Society and of the Royal Geographical Society.

As a naturalist and author Christopher Lever specialises in the study of successfully introduced species, on which he has written 11 books and contributed to 12 others.
