Tusk’s aim is to maximize the funds reaching the field. On average over 80% of net funds raised are allocated in grants to projects and with your gift we hope to increase our overall support.
Each project is carefully monitored to ensure your money is being effectively used. Please consider the pathways below in making your donation.
Direct Donation via check
All donations to Tusk USA are tax deductible to the extent allowed by US law. Please make all checks payable to ‘Tusk USA.' Please send checks to the Tusk USA office, 9 Village Lane, Santa Fe, NM 87505
Credit Card donation
As of this printing Tusk USA cannot accept credit cards directly at its US office. FirstGiving has offered their support as a web-based outlet for donors wishing to use credit cards to support Tusk. Donations are placed with FirstGiving, then routed directly to Tusk on a monthly basis. Please visit www.firstgiving.org, type ‘Tusk USA’ in the search box, then select us and click ‘Donate’ on the right side of the screen. Please note: FirstGiving collects a 7% service fee for donations to its site.
Stock donation
Using appreciated investment assets (stocks, bonds, mutual funds) can be a tax-wise way to make a gift. If you have an appreciated security that you have owned for more than one year, you can deduct its current market value, regardless of your original cost. Furthermore, no capital gains tax is due on the appreciated amount. So your gift of appreciated securities can cost you less than a comparable gift of cash. The IRS allows you to claim charitable contributions for gifts of appreciated assets up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income in any year. If you cannot use all of the deduction in one year, you may carry over the remainder for the next five years. Call us before you sell profitable investment assets.
Become a Tusk USA Sponsor
Tusk USA is always seeking sponsors for projects in Africa, and for fundraising and celebratory events in the US. For example:
• You may request that a donation be routed to the Koiyaki Guiding School to fund a student bursary.
• Your company or foundation will receive national recognition as a presenting sponsor of our Iconic Africa Event in New York City
• You could participate in the London or Safaricom Marathon (Kenya); or sponsor a participant if you aren’t a runner yourself!
In-kind donations
Tusk USA willingly accepts donations of goods and/or services for purposes of reducing Tusk’s operating expenses or for fundraising.
