Tusk Announces Appointment of new CEO

Tusk is pleased to announce the appointment of Nick Bubb as its new CEO, as the charity's Founder, Charlie Mayhew OBE takes on a new full-time executive role as Tusk's President.

Nick Bubb will take up the position with effect from 8th January 2024 and comes to Tusk from Fauna & Flora International, where he has served as the Global Business Development Director for the last 10 years, along with various other senior leadership roles.

Charlie Mayhew OBE said “I’m excited to be able to hand over the CEO reins to Nick, which will allow me to focus on multiple key relationships in my new full-time role as Tusk’s President.  Nick is a hugely experienced and skilled conservation professional, and lives and breathes the Tusk ethos.  I and the rest of the team much look forward to working alongside him over the coming years, and to introducing him to all our wonderful supporters and partners which make up the Tusk family.”

Alexander Rhodes, Tusk’s Chairman, said: “We are incredibly excited about welcoming Nick to the Tusk family as CEO.  He brings with him a wealth of experience in international conservation, a great track record of success in meeting ambitious goals, and a strong synergy of personal values and purpose with Tusk’s vision and mission.  The opportunity Charlie has created to bring Nick on board at this stage reflects the strength of the charity’s performance and the clarity of our vision to 2030 and beyond.  Charlie’s new dedicated role as President will allow us to accelerate our impact on the ground, at the same time as investing in our leadership team as we look to the future.”

Nick Bubb said: “It’s undoubtedly a huge honour and a great responsibility to be trusted with this role but clearly there’s a wonderful team in place and I firmly believe a great opportunity for Tusk to continue to grow its impact. I’m very excited to get started, to meet the team properly and to combine my broad experiences at FFI, with my endless energy and passion for wildlife conservation. With Charlie taking up the role of President, I will have one of the most respected and experienced African focussed conservationists as my mentor and I’m certain we’re going to make a great team. I can’t wait to get to know the programmes, the partners and all the amazing people on the ground, helping to accelerate Tusk’s conservation impact across Africa.”
