Living With Wildlife Appeal Exceeds Target

A very big THANK YOU to everybody who supported the Living with Wildlife appeal, which in partnership with Send a Cow has been raising money to protect the people and wildlife of Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. The appeal came to an end last week and we're delighted that it smashed its fundraising target.

It is with great sadness and deep respect that we recognise the passing of one of the world’s great conservationists, Garth Owen Smith. Co-founder of Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation (IRDNC) and winner of Tusk’s coveted Prince William Award for Conservation in 2015, Garth was the true visionary behind the establishment of community conservation efforts in Namibia.

The inevitable downturn in tourism will impact many areas we work in as jobs, reserves and revenue streams come under threat, and a global economic crisis could significantly affect our funding.

As we near the end of 2019, Tusk is grateful to all our supporters for what has been another incredible year. We have been really overwhelmed by the generosity of so many donors, helping us do more than ever through our long-standing partners. The Tusk Ball In May raised an incredible £530,000, while our annual Safaricom Marathon in Kenya generated a further £350,000 for our work.

Congratulating the finalists, Tusk's Royal Patron HRH The Duke of Cambridge spoke of how they and their colleagues are "truly inspiring and give us all hope that change is truly possible".
