Tusk’s Royal Patron, The Duke of Cambridge, this morning joined an online forum with leading African conservationists to discuss the impacts of the global pandemic on the sector, its implications on wildlife and communities and the solutions being adopted across the continent.

In a show of solidarity to the conservation sector, HRH The Duke of Cambridge has highlighted the current risk to decades of conservation progress and the inevitable impact the global crisis will have on jobs, livelihoods and wildlife on the African continent.

Winchester based artist Hannah Shergold is releasing her 2020 collection with 20% of all proceeds being donated to Tusk, and a further two pieces to be sold by online auction on June 21st with 100% for the charity. The collection can be viewed online and by appointment at La Galleria on London's Pall Mall from Monday 15th - Saturday 29th June.

The World’s fastest Marathon runner Eliud Kipchoge visited Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in northern Kenya on Saturday to take part in a very special training run alongside some of the reserve’s wildlife rangers, and to help promote this year's Virtual Lewa Safari Marathon.

Although the devastating consequences COVID-19 will most likely cause in Africa is still unknown, the collapse in tourism and other revenue is already threatening rural livelihoods and conservation efforts, and could lead to an increase in poaching and further habitat loss.

Tusk's project partners at Coaching Conservation (a programme of Wild Entrust) have responded to the Coronavirus crisis and the lack of information reaching rural communities by producing a clear, concise and extremely useful information pack all about the virus to help people stay safe.

A very big THANK YOU to everybody who supported the Living with Wildlife appeal, which in partnership with Send a Cow has been raising money to protect the people and wildlife of Murchison Falls National Park in Uganda. The appeal came to an end last week and we're delighted that it smashed its fundraising target.

It is with great sadness and deep respect that we recognise the passing of one of the world’s great conservationists, Garth Owen Smith. Co-founder of Integrated Rural Development and Nature Conservation (IRDNC) and winner of Tusk’s coveted Prince William Award for Conservation in 2015, Garth was the true visionary behind the establishment of community conservation efforts in Namibia.

The crisis will undoubtedly have an unprecedented effect on people, services and economies globally, and Africa is no exception. The inevitable downturn in tourism will impact many areas we work in as jobs, reserves and revenue streams come under threat, and a global economic crisis could significantly affect our funding.

Last night, Tusk Ambassador Levison Wood enthralled a packed audience at London’s Emmanuel Centre, as he previewed his upcoming series “Walking With Elephants” and his book “The Last Giants”. The event was generously sponsored by Forevermark, and raised significant funds for the Living with Wildlife appeal.
